The Surrounding Area
The peaceful village of Crowcombe lies at the foot of the Quantock Hills in an area designated as one of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The village boasts its own shop, post office, pub and church, and is an ideal centre for painters, walkers, photographers and bird watchers. A bus between Minehead and the County town of Taunton comes through the village at certain times of day. The coast is only seven miles away – Kilve is well known for its unusual strata, rock pools and fossils. The Mediaeval village of Dunster with its six hundred year old castle, quaint streets and Yarn Market, is well worth a visit.

But the jewel in the crown is Exmoor with its rolling hills, rivers Exe and Barle and delightful villages and farmsteads tucked away in the valleys. Wildlife abounds: red deer, Exmoor ponies, sheep, buzzards, and the occasional red kite. Wimberball Lake is a haven for fishermen, while the view from Dunkery Beacon, the highest point on Exmoor, provides a panoramic view towards the coast, Dartmoor and the Quantocks.
